Im not specifically targeting it as such, but would like to catch it. Having targets, ruined my head fishing wise for a coupla years so I just stick to fishing for what comes my way now (mainly repeats, ha ha). The lakes are far too busy these days and I sometimes just have to angle as best as I can in what areas are available on a Saturday night.

Think I’ll just leave all the Dave’s to it. 😎

A fish I have been after for a few years now has been claimed by 2 people, but it isn’t that fish.

If I was after a specific carp, and I had random guys wandering around telling everyone it's already been out, I personally would be happy as Larry.

Best thing you can do is catch it Ash, wouldn't worry about the other stuff it unfortunately goes on, along with not being weighed correctly etc.

I'd speak to the older & wiser members that have fished there for many years, local knowledge will know what fish is what.
Just enjoy your fishing mate.
Leave all the confusion to the Face ache / insta- look-at-me with the lakes big 'un caught on wonder bait X & rig Y captors.

They'll probably be glad if you tell them as they'll still have a target to go after....but...if you don't tell, them they might bugger off thinking they've caught their target and give you a better chance 😉

Aup,

I know that naming fish isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it happens and a lot of the time its how people identify targets (or fish they would like to catch).

What is the etiquette when someone incorrectly claims a fish?

Sad, I know but on ‘my’ lakes quite a few people are claiming a fish as the lakes biggy but down in weight, and also claiming fish to be named ones that aren’t?

A fish I have been after for a few years now has been claimed by 2 people, but it isn’t that fish.

Sad thing to get one’s knickers in a twist over but Id like to put these people right but not sure about it as I don’t really know them.

I could just leave them to it but its on bait makers insta pages, their pages etc and its triggered me!
