In reply to Post #6 lol, itโs mostly healed now. Pad of finger still feels a bit weird, almost like when you get a blister, but itโs getting there. Just got rods out for a couple of nights, so will try to be more careful this trip lol ๐

In reply to Post #3 Quote: Should have weighed yourself....you might have had a PB!!!
A bit like when you get 2 buckets and put a foot in each and then grab the handles and try to lift them! Should be easy, right? Halving the load across 2 buckets after all ๐

In reply to Post #1 Good angling, a double screamer on one rig ๐ Maybe go barbless next session ?
Ouch. Glad you didn't need to visit A&E.

Landed a fish at 7am last week and hands were numb with cold by the time I unhooked it. Line was wrapped around the tip of the rod which Iโd put back on the rests so went to throw the lead back into the lake to sort out after putting fish back. Even before throwing it, I thought to myself โthis could go badly wrongโ and launched the 3.5oz lead all of 8โ before the hook embedded securely in my finger! Didnโt even feel the size 4 Atomic Sabre effortlessly disappear up to the bend!
Fortunately, hands were pretty numb at that point, so never even felt it go in! Flipped the fish out of the net (was only a low double) while still holding the rod, lent rod against bivvy, took lead off, unclipped rig from QC swivel and then warmed other hand up over the stove so I could hold forceps properly lol. Somehow still managed to roll my first smoke of the day using thumb and middle finger, with rig still hanging out of index finger! Then with fingers on hooked hand still numb, popped it out with the forceps. Was quite satisfying when it came out. Worst bit was waiting for other hand to warm up, whilst praying another rod didnโt rattle off!! ๐
Oh, and checked hook, it was still razor sharp amazingly, so tied a new bait on and chucked it back on the spot ๐.
