Also, rather than a kneeling mat, I have used Knee pads also for over 20 years, far better as you are always wearing them and in Winter they keep your knees warm. The ones I use are the "Military style" that the army and the likes of SWAT teams and Paintballers etc use rather than the likes you would get from Wickes or B&Q for the building trade and carpet fitters.

I have DeWalt ones for working round the house and I can only wear them a hour or so before the sweat starts annoying my skin....can't imagine wearing them all day for fishing 😱 I also have a kneeling mat from Toolstation, just a cheapy, far prefer that, but so far haven't taken it fishing. I did twinge my knee a few weeks ago and decided to use the lid of my bucket to kneel on, it's green with lots of white pressure spots on it now. Going to rig up a double carabiner rope to stop a kneeling mat from flying away, attach it to the handles of my unhookimg mat.

I have had my eye on some of these for a while now....the military ones look "bob on"....are they comfy to wear all day?
and can you wear them with shorts or do you need to put them over combat trousers?

Two things that catch my eye, those things you call "Rubber cable ties", they look like the plastic tags you get to use as "Dumbells" for bait stops that the likes of Gardner used to sell, maybe still do, but they are identical to what you get tags on clothing etc you buy from a shop, I don't know what they are called but you can buy a 1000 in various colours for just a few pound off Ebay. I bought a 1000 20 years ago, I'm still using them as you get 10 "Dumbbells" or more off a stalk, plus I reuse them until I lose them..

This is the minimum requirement of protection when using Secret Agent.
That stuff is impossible to get off your hands.

Quote: you wouldn't say that if you were wearing tight nitrile or rubber gloves for hours at time at work, sometimes with elbow length gauntlets, or even in a 3/4 spaces suit type thing with its own air supply

I'm a bit confused....but I think I get the picture🤔

and opted to use my brew teaspoon to fish out glugged hook baits instead....much to the detriment of any subsequent cups of tea, flavour-wise

:-X

I did look at one of those, back in the day, but dismissed it as being a bit "namby-pamby!"

😂 you wouldn't say that if you were wearing tight nitrile or rubber gloves for hours at time at work, sometimes with elbow length gauntlets, or even in a 3/4 space suit type thing with its own air supply 😱 Don't get me wrong, I didn't mind some of it....monster mussel was going a bit far.....but my work colleagues! Even washing your hands in iso p alcohol only minimised it for days 😂

Could they also be used for taking a hook bait out of a pot of glug without getting yer fingers all yucky🤔

This could also go in the antiques roadshow topic, but in my tackle box I have what I remember as the Nash version of these for just that reason. They hark back to a time using secret agent and RH Monster Mussel when I didn't want my hands to smell....as much....next day in work . Naturally they still smelt but the claw thingy is useful for deep glug pots and the last baits!...

Edit changed pic to my claw thing. Suppose it was meant as a angling thing but they are generic so I though it'd count.
EDIT 2, I do use a 20 year old collapsible Dutch Army water bowl for fish etc, but that may not even count as non angling now as they're being made for angling....roll eyes!

One of the most used and versatile bits of kit i carry is a 7x8ft Dpm army tarp ,I use it a lot
Barrow cover
Skull cap for 100t
Porch for Banshee 200 pro, when cyclo fishing ,or wildish camping

Came in handy when my roof sprung a leak as well ,

Can't beat a army tarp ,plus if you die,you can be carried safely to be disposed of ,as it has built in carry handles for such a scenario...😉

I have not had one break yet but am expecting it every time I use them! I keep half a dozen spares in the depths of the ruck sack for just such an eventuality.

I also use them at work (chef) for securing open food packets etc. One of the girls is petrified of them...doesn't like "the way they look or move!" ffs! 🤔

Rubber cable ties to hold made up rods together…cheap as chips

Used those for a couple of years to keep our camping tent guy ropes tidy, they're o.k but forever breaking. I'm still on the search for better ones. like reusable cable ties. We bought velco typre...not the best idea, rip the rope to bits 🤔

As the title says…things I find handy for my angling that don’t come from a tackle shop.
This first aid bag is handy for all my carp care kit, Propolis, forceps etc. I also keep some tic removers in here

Garden kneeler…cost me a quid from the garden centre. Light enough to take stalking, handy if I am fishing off the barrow and am tying a rig with the tackle box on the ground next to me. Also, handy if I have to lean over the bed chair and reach for something in the back of the bivvy, especially on gravelly or wet banks.

Posh tic remover kit…everyone should have one.

Decent adjustable guy ropes from the camping shop
Cheap tic remover…keep in the car

£1.80 builders bucket…fantastic for knocking up a method mix or glugging boilies

Rubber cable ties to hold made up rods together…cheap as chips

Elasticated bands..I use these for holding reels together when rods are attached to a quiver.
Camping poncho..on chilly mornings this is mind-blowingly warm and cosy…well worth looking a complete plum for.

😎😎
