Doubling the braid won't double the breaking strain.
Its a loop of doubled over single 12lb braid, and at some point it can fail.

Maybe test lifting a weighted bag with a single strand, and add weight to it until it breaks, then weigh whats in the bag. This way saves destroying your scales.
Now double it as per your rig and retest.

12lb will be fine. But yes. Doubling it up will double the breaking strain as it were..

Hi , i'm prob having a blonde moment but when using the doubled braid loop , which i tie myself, and then connect to a esp ronnie clip does that mean because its doubled the bs of the braid section is doubled ? The reason i ask is that i want to use smaller size hooks ie size 8 and 10s and the only way i can get the doubled braid loop through the eye is to use a smaller bs braid ie 12lb , i just worry that im compromising the breaking strain by going lower but if it means that doubling it doubles the bs i'd be confident using a thinner braid
