In reply to Post #17 Nor can I. There was a rule that new members can't fish nights for the 1st year. I assume that's still the case?

In reply to Post #12 I can't imagine that it would put many people off joining.

In reply to Post #15 The name rings a bell to me. I think he used to fish at Bough Beech many years ago, if it’s the same guy I’m thinking of? Mates with another guy called Steve Porter?

In reply to Post #12 There's a swim called Rowlands Point. Is it named after Terry?

I believe that there are proposals that new members can’t fish bennetts for the first year of membership

In reply to Post #6 I used an address in Longfield to get in quick. You may have heard of Peter Graves, it was his next door neighbour.

In reply to Post #6 I got in after a single season wait.
Think I've been a member 5 or 6 years now and I've only fished B's once and Sp***rs once for a social overnighter with a mate.
I had intended to focus on their waters this year, but the weather stopped me going (too hot) and the thought of the circus at B's put me off driving 90mins to get there to sit in a crap/tight/hemmed in swim. Maybe I'll make an effort to get some time on them this winter.

I've been a DDAPS member since 1985 (when I was 15!), and I recall the waiting list back then was about 6-7 years, but as mentioned if you had a DA postcode you usually got in within a year. I lived in Orpington at the time, but my Geography teacher at school lived on the main road above Kirby, and very kindly let me use his address, so I got in straight away.
It should be mentioned the lakes along the valley were all very popular at that time, and at the forefront of how carp fishing was expanding rapidly, and other areas / lakes around the country were still somewhat under the radar.
As things evolved in the mid-late 90's, the waiting list went right down, and I think people were getting in within a year or two - you could actually turn up on a Friday night and get a swim!
And now it seems to have gone full circle again with a 10 year waiting list, which I guess must be driven by some extent to glory hunters wanting to have a go on Bennetts. A shame for anyone wanting to join just for some local fishing, especially if non-carp.

In reply to Post #4 Quote: I haven't been a member for many years but if you had a Dartford postcode it would only be a season.
Think it's a bit longer now. Even for kids..🙁

In reply to Post #1 Karlos is right. 10 plus year wait. Bit shorter i believe if you live in the Dirtford area.
This seems to be the norm these days with a lot of clubs.. which is a shame..🙁

In reply to Post #1 On this years rejoining form I think it said it was around 10 years. Might have been more, my memory isn’t what it used to be 😢
If I can dig form out later I will update the thread. Obviously that figure would have been a guesstimate based on their normal drop out rates per year
