Move up to 18lb as its only 0.39 so less than most 15lb lines so still have the casting abillity. The 15lb is more like a 12lb mono as its 0.33

I used the GTHD in 15lb for a long time ,fishing old quarries and the like ,I fancied a change and gave the Avid Outline a chance ,it's pretty good ,good enough to buy another spool...

I've always found Gardner lines ,to be very honest lines...reliable..

Is it "snag fishing" when it's an unknown snag that's caused the problem? I'm not so sure. I wouldn't be stripping off the line at this stage, just seems like bad luck.

I’ve used GT HD in 15lb for years now and generally very happy with it. Though leaving it out in the sun for days it does go brittle surprisingly quickly.

However any snag fishing I’m automatically looking for plus 0.40 plus mono.

Currently using 20lb Korda touchdown I’m quite happy with.

Tbh I think line diameter is the important metric.

Tbh, if this isn't unusual with the 15lb GTHD I'll go back to GR60 and accept it won't cast quite as far and need a bit of managing

It was under water in open water bud, no where near the bank or snags and not sticking out. Fish kited right so it knew it was there, just I didn't 😔.

First time using the line since spooling it up

GTHD 15lb is ok but imho if you are encountering a snag then you’re too far off your rods imho.
No matter how stong the line is a decent snag breaks them all.
If I’m fishing a Snaggy water where I know it’s going to get some stick, then 20lb mono and sitting on my rods.
Every time I encounter a snag and am lucky to land the fish - I strip off that mono as they all go pop no matter what folk say,

That said season old mono it’s very noticeable how much strength it looses.

Sadly I had that exact same experience with 15lb GTHD, this was a few years ago and I have since heard several times that same story from others about the 15lb.

However, I want to use an 18lb line this year and have been told the 18lb GTHD seems ok - it's either that I'll go for or 18lb Kaizen.

In to my second year with 15lb GTHD and was really happy last year on weedy 'clean' waters.

But this weekend I had a snap off playing a fish, I could feel it rubbing on an underwater snag (felt like wood) and it just went without much resistance, same last week pulling to free from a branch, just snapped but without a crack

Maybe I'm unlucky, but longer term users of GTHD, does it normally have better resistance than I've experienced in 15lb?

Admittedly, the line I moved from was 12lb GR60 which is probably at the opposite end of the resistance scale, but the lake I have access to this winter/spring has some massive carp in it and I don't wanna be snapping off with one of them on the other end.
