£45 for a tub of pop ups... I want them to suck and **** me for that money!.. just had a look at bait rooms site. Some look great. But 45 squid for some of them which are just a decent pop up nothing more, is not on in my opinion. But dont knock people who buy them. Some poeple got money you know... if I was earning more I probably would buy them. Just cant justify it personally. I know people who eat 50 quid fillet steaks every day because why not.. just not sustainable for me
23 quid a pot for specialized... from what I've seen from him on here on his operation is an absolute bargain compared to baitroom. Can see why they are so popular.

In reply to Post #42 I was the same but cut my collection right down from 40-50 pots to OG s2 pop ups and balanced or pilgrim cork balls and hard hookbaits if ive got the pilgrim freezer bait. Also like a tc1 but I ran out a while back

In reply to Post #39 I only use baitroom, stogleman and specialised hookbaits
How do you decide which one to use? I'm trying to cut my Specialised collection down to just one of each colour (a pink, white, yellow and OG) in balanced and popups and that's too many!

In reply to Post #39 Confidence in a hookbait doesn't have a price..
Literally had this conversation with my mate last week.
He just got more hookbaits at 45 a tub. But he catches on it and has done for years. Why bother changing

In reply to Post #28 I wouldnt want to go fishing without pots of baitroom baits. Since using them ive seen a huge difference. For about 5 years every single big fish from my syndicate came on baitrooms. Nothing else came close. I only use baitroom, stogleman and specialised hookbaits. I wouldnt even think about using anything else.
I cant understand why people think a hookbait isnt worth £1 but a reel is worth £600.. which one catches fish?
£45 for 60 baits... if i catch more than one fish over 35lb using that pot I deem it worth it. If I catch a few fish over 35lb then how can that not be worth £45? Especially if ibe gone through 20kikos of bait in a session. You start adding up how much everything costs youll find £45 is a drop in the ocean so to speak..

In reply to Post #37 Sonubaits,, korum,, avid, Preston innovations all were Dave's brands. I've known Dave for 40 years he's a very clever bloke and a fantastic carp angler to boot.. I've no doubt they will be decent baits and will catch a few.

In reply to Post #36 Didnt he also own sonubaits before the buyout ?

In reply to Post #35 He's a very shrewd businessman and has his name to arguably the biggest match fishing brand in the world, amongst other very successful companies. This is however, IMO, complete toilet. Fjuka baits, at least the match baits I've seen, are very poor and they never seem to be taken very seriously. I highly doubt these will last....

In reply to Post #31 This video made me cringe! Barely legal? What is he, the Jimmy Saville of hook baits?
Claims that his baits have caused him problems with other bait companies.😂
What a load of nonsense! However, I guess the proof will be in the pudding.

In reply to Post #31 I watched this recently and the term "legend in his own mind" was my first thought.
He basically gassed about a lot of nothing and presented nothing new or revolutionary except for the name of a wonder product that he didn't elaborate on at all to justify calling it that. Nor did he prove that the claim the entire bait industry are trying to get him banned.
Best of luck to him, will be taking some solid proof to get me to look again.

I got 140 quid for 13 tubs of various half full tubs of hookbaits 😂😂😂

In reply to Post #31 I thought Fujuka was his bait when he sold Preston so not much of a move to carp market.

I see David Preston is entering the hook bait market with Barely Legal. Not the best at presenting imo, and not sure why it's revolutionary, but good luck to him.

In reply to Post #29 The baits have (supposedly) been tested against the tester’s best hookbaits and have out-fished them pretty much every time. Would like to see one go up against a specialized hookbait.. bet they haven’t though.
Anyone who doesn’t agree with him or questions them is instantly blocked on his Facebook 😂

In reply to Post #26 He'd be better off sorting his alarms reliability the set I had were crap 😉

Same as the bait room pop ups and wafters he stopped selling them made an excuse named anglers were catching on them but he weren’t getting the recognition so stopped selling them . Then people started selling them for stupid money a pot on ebay . He then cottoned onto it and restarted selling then again at £45 a pot and people are willing to paying it

Anyone seen Scott Edwards is gearing up to release his ECU Neptunes Perils hookbaits?
Extensively tested (by himself) and the 31 testers he’s sent freebies to.
On release, £21.99 for 35 baits or £11.99 for 18.

Looks like Jim Rawcliffe of More takes baits has withdrawn these Protavit pops ups from the market. Looks like people weren't to impressed with his pricing.. Strange..🤔😂

We’re living in the world of “Instant Gratification”.
Debt - buy anything instantly.
Plastic surgery - change your face and body instantly.
Lose weight - chemicals to make you thin instantly.
Big muscles - take steroids to get big instantly.
Everything is being sold as instant just to make money and most people don’t want to put any effort in to anything nowadays, including critical thinking, so they’ll lap these scams up.
Delayed gratification is only understood by those willing to educate themselves.
A fool and his money are easily parted.

not just fishing, airgun parts actually sell for silly money too, 5 years ago you could buy a complete Theoben Rapid for 600-700 but the parts would sell for 1k plus, after lock down the complete guns were selling for 1k and parts listings on ebay still matched or exceeded tbat.

Carp Anglers have been losing the plot for decades. Driving miles just to bait up in the dark hoping no ones in the swim come Friday 😱..snorkeling rigs out..bonkers.
With premium hookbaits what people pay for is confidence essentially..but for me that confidence can also be achieved with a 2p bit of bread.

In reply to Post #16 If you don't put it in the right place. It may as well be in a tub on the mantlepiece. Some muppets think money can buy experience better off spending time on the bank. Watching what the people who catch regularly are doing. Discretely of course, unless you really want a flat nose.

|

In reply to Post #14 If I paid that much they'd be displayed on the mantle piece wouldn't be launching them into a pond 😂
Guess people pay it hoping it's that magic edge.

Stoogleman has not taken kindly to this!
He is looking to get rid of the customers who are re-selling his baits.
Good on him. And shame on the tw@ts who are sticking them on E-bay.
What a world.

A tub of pop ups costing more than some club membership!

In reply to Post #1 £2 a boilie basically. 😇
60p a hook,
£3 a lead,
20p hook-length
£1 all the extra nonsense bits.
£2 leadcore/leader length.
Fuming when that lot goes straight in the tree from the cast. 😭😭😡😀
Hopefully the market will decide and some sense will prevail.

In reply to Post #10 A bit like saying there’s robin red in these wonder baits you could have 100kg of dry mix and then add a table spoon of RR does that now mean every single bait has a decent amount RR in it ?
I would pay these ridiculous prices too old hat for all this nonsense

In reply to Post #10 'Id want them crawling up the rods for that money
Reckon he could charge a lot more if he could guarantee that 😂
Wouldn't be much fun tho would it...maybe on a once a year hol 😀

Just seen a small video Jim Rawcliffe put up talking about these pop ups. He reckons he was constantly being asked to bring them back out again. He went onto mention that they wouldn't be cheap due to the time and effort to produce and the cost of the ingredients.
I thought. OK.. another £20 pot of hookbaits. Plenty out there charging that.. I nearly hit the floor when I searched them out on Ebay. A few quid short of £60 a pot.. What's in them, gold dust.. he mentioned one of the ingredients has a habit of lingering for days. I'm thinking Fenugreek, could be wrong. Is it an expensive ingredient, I don't know.
" More takes " I'd want them crawling up the rods for that money
😱😂😎

In reply to Post #7 I'm afraid people will though!
Like everything in carpfishing it has been exploited to death and people are trying to make a living from it, that's where its all gone wrong. . Don't get me wrong there is a natural progression where someone makes a special bait with expensive ingredients in it, then there is obviously quite a bit more cost involved than a pop up mix with a few flavors in it commercially rolled.
What we can all see with bait over the years is that it comes in trends, generally targeted at the sheep. Good quality brands that catch fish hang around for a reason, they catch fish, others just come and go in cycles.
Bait ingredients have risen and risen but when you look at the cost of say 5kg of bottom baits which will be filled with half decent ingredients, nothing has escalated like the pop up, minimal input and maximum output. You are not messing around rolling tons of food source baits at a cost either. The flip side, anyone can jump on the bandwagon and try to charge a premium, that's what's happening sadly, and that's what wrong, spanking anglers again for their own greed, it also leaves the flood gates open for people to charge what they want regardless of the product quality or effectiveness, the only filter is the users and results where the vast majority will no doubt find the bin after a few sessions.
The good news, if they are inferior they will soon be out of business so you could say its a vicious circle, here today, gone tomorrow, simple for me, don't buy them. Ultimately the concluding factor is how much you are really willing to pay.
